Weekend at Beechworth & Alpine Region

Another great weekend away on our annual club getaway, this time to Beechworth and the Alpine Region. We had good accommodations at the Beechworth Holiday park, not far out of town.  A small group of members & partners took advantage of the long weekend and the beautiful warm weather. The weather was perfect, a little cool on the first night, but it definitely pays to book good weather well in advance - or so Eileen tells us.

Friday afternoon saw everyone enjoying happy hour, pre-dinner drinks & nibbles at the Tree House, one of the accommodation building we stayed in. Plenty of conversation and discussions on our plans for the next day. Dinner was booked for 7.00 pm at the Hibernian Hotel, which finished off the evening nicely.

Saturday - Early rise & departure for some - breakfast in town, some settled for a sit down full breakfast while for others a pie & coffee was sufficient…..well maybe a couple of pies & a cappuccino. All departed to the farther yonders of the Alpine region - and eventually returning with tales of their daily exploits - from waterfalls, antique stores, to the old dredge at Eldorado. For those with 4X4’s, they were a little bit more adventurous.

Saturday evening, we all regrouped at the tree house for our traditional BBQ dinner, Sweets were to be pavlova & tiramisu, (yummy), but unfortunately the ants enjoyed the pavlova, so de-constructed pav was replaced on the menu. (fresh fruit salad)  Another late evening, just chatting, very much a social outing in comparison to previous years. ( Didn’t see many cameras )

Next morning 8.00am sharp Breakfast at the Tree House - bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms & toast, enough fuel to see us home. We were happily sitting on the deck chatting, when we realised that time was ticking and we had to be out by 10.00am.

All in all, another successful weekend away, and already planning next year’s outing. A big thanks to Eileen for arranging the weekend, weather and the poached eggs and to all the girls for cooking our sumptuous breakfast.  Those attending: Eileen & Bob Earle, Cheryl & Rob Chippendale, Alex & Pam Richardson, Liz Rae, Linda & Fred Lyons, Russell & Denise Brand, Rob & Trish Field.
