What a fantastic film night we had on Thursday February 4. We used the large projection room for the film and a our usual meeting room became the “Party Room” with plenty of drinks and finger food on hand. (The two Robs spent many days in the kitchen making the food….Nah!, not really!!). The volume of chatter was high, indicating that everyone was having a great time catching up after the holidays. In attendance were 28 members and spouses PLUS 4 visitors (soon to become new members)! - an impressive turnout!! By 8.15pm the film was underway in the air-conditioned movie theatre. Feedback from all present was that this is a most interesting and important film that outlines the life and artistic endeavours of the great Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado. How rare is it that we get an opportunity to delve into the thinking and understandings of such a powerful photographer? And how unusual it is to find that most of the story is told through photographs!
